Occasional 'habagat' rains to prevail over Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan
The southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” enhanced by typhoon Khanun (formerly Falcon) has continued to weaken and may only bring rains to fewer areas in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Friday, Aug. 4.
Although monsoon rains may still affect some areas, they are weaker than they were in the previous few days, said PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja.
Light to occasional heavy rains may persist in Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan, while scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Occidental Mindoro, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, and Aurora.
PAGASA warned of possible flooding or landslides, particularly in high-risk areas.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA also advised the public to be on alert for flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
