National Advisory Council backs youth convention on Aug. 12-13
The National Advisory Council (NAC) has thrown its full support to the upcoming Youth Organization Registration Program (YORP) Convention that will be held on Aug. 12 to 13.

With its theme, "Time to Shine: YORP as Vanguard for Change: In Celebration of the International, ASEAN, and National Youth Day," the event will gather youth and youth-serving organizations from all over the country to share best practices on youth program implementation. Chaired by Vice President and Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sara Duterte, the NAC meeting was presided over by Atty. Sunshine Charry Fajarda, the Assistant Secretary under the Office of the Secretary of DepEd, on Aug. 3 via a virtual Zoom conference. Philippine Youth Development Plan (PYDP) Chairperson Alexa Danielle Dayanghirang on Committee Global Mobility and Commissioner of Mindanao, presented the details of the upcoming National Youth Commission (NYC) activity to the NAC members. Assistant Secretary Azucena Dayanghirang also underscored the importance of the convention in providing a platform for youth to share their perspectives, ideas, and experiences to learn from one another. Moreover, the meeting also discussed the upcoming Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections timeline. NYC Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ronald Gian Carlo Cardema proposed that the elections for the national representative of the SK should be conducted within 45 to 60 days from the set date of the elections. Meanwhile, the NAC also backed the recently approved NYC resolutions under the PYDP Committees on Environment and Agriculture.
