Foreign firm proposes solar-powered transport system in Bohol

CEBU CITY – A foreign firm has expressed interest in constructing a modern transport system in Bohol province.

Gov. Aris Aumentado said that Transit X is willing to build a $1.3-billion solar-powered podway network.

The plan to build the modern transportation which will involve a string-based transportation system similar to a cable car was discussed during a meeting between Aumentado and representatives of Transit X led by chief executive officer Dorothy Pinyoloya.

“In our discussion, infrastructure will be funded by the private sector,” said Aumentado.

Aumentado said the company assured that the transport system will offer fares similar to the province’s current public transportation or even at a lower rate.

“They also plan to build manufacturing plants for pods that will be used for the transport network,” Aumentado said.

The governor added that if such a project materializes, it will have a big impact on the province’s development.

“This will greatly improve our transportation and will speed up our goal to become a progressive province with enough and safe transportation for all,” Aumentado said.
