Ex-security guard yields P14-M shabu in buy-bust

CEBU CITY – Suspected shabu worth P14 million was seized from a 23-year-old man in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mambaling here on Thursday night, August 3. Police identified the suspect as Kenneth Tapaya, a resident of Barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City. Tapaya yielded 2,050 grams of shabu when he was arrested by the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Mambaling Police Station. Police Major Jonatahn Beethoven Taneo, chief of the Mambaling Police Station, said Tapaya was a former security guard jailed for drug charges two years ago. Taneo said it was possible that while in detention, the suspect was able to establish more contacts for his illegal drug activities. He added that the suspect got his supply of illegal drugs through an inmate at the Cebu City Jail in Barangay Kalunasan here. The suspect was closely monitored for about two weeks, said Taneo.
