The cities of Las Piñas, Pasay and Parañaque launched programs and activities in celebration of “Family Planning Month.”
In Parañaque City, the local government conducted a program, “Usap Tayo sa Family Planning,” on Friday, Aug. 4 at the Green Heights covered court in Barangay San Isidro.
Mayor Eric Olivarez, who is a registered nurse, actively participated in the program, and discussed the different services of the city government on health, family planning and responsible parenthood counseling.
Olivarez told attendees that family planning is a key for parents not to encounter problems in giving their children a bright future.
He also told mothers the importance of having regular check-ups for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and sexually transmitted diseases (STD) in order for them to receive immediate and proper treatment.
The mayor also talked about the thermal ablation as a destruction of tissue by extreme hyperthermia (elevated tissue temperatures) or hypothermia (depressed tissue temperatures), human papillomavirus (HPV) testing, and nutrition counseling.
The Las Piñas city government will hold a family planning caravan, organized by the City Health Office (CHO), on Aug. 10 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the Verdant covered court in Barangay Pamplona Tres.
Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the caravan aims to educate expecting mothers on the importance of family planning.
Aguilar said the CHO will also offer progestin subdermal implant (PSI) insertions, which is a form of birth control that can prevent pregnancy for three years, to willing participants.
In Pasay City, Mayor Emi Calixto- Rubiano invited all mothers to join in the caravan at Barangay 54 covered court prepared by the city government for them to know the importance of safe sex and family planning.
Rubiano said the city’s health centers will give free family planning services. Every health center will have their respective schedules for the family planning seminar.
