Speaker leads P5,000 aid distribution for students, drivers; hails Tingog Party-list

House Speaker Martin Romualdez led on Wednesday, Aug. 31 the distribution of financial aid to some 2,000 drivers and student-beneficiaries in Malolos, Bulacan.

Speaker Romualdez, head of the 311-member House of Representatives and husband of Tingog Party-list Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez, distributed the P5,000 aid to each of the 1,000 qualified Jeepney Operator and Drivers Association members, as well as 1,000 students.

The aid was sourced from the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under Secretary Rex Gatchalian.

"This is in partnership with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos Jr. to provide better services to the people," read a statement from the Speaker's office.

The aid distribution, which took place at the Valencia Hall of the Bulacan State University, was part of the program of the inauguration of the Alagang Tingog Center (ATC) in Bulacan's first district.

“This center represents more than just a building; it is a pillar of hope. It stands as a symbol that, despite the challenges and adversities, the spirit of bayanihan prevails,” Speaker Romualdez, the guest of honor at the event, said.

Referring to Tingog Party-list, Romualdez said, "I am incredibly proud to be associated with a team that works relentlessly towards making a difference."

Tingog, which means "voice", is represented in Congress by Reps. Yedda Marie Romualdez, the Committee on Accounts chairperson; and Deputy Majority Leader Jude Acidre.

“This initiative is a testament to Tingog Party-list's unwavering dedication to delivering assistance and care to our kababayans. Our mission is clear: To ensure that government services reach every nook and cranny of our nation, especially in areas that often feel overlooked,” the House leader stressed.

The Speaker said he is glad that characteristics like the power of unity, service, and compassion are still common among Filipinos, regardless of their status in life.

The inauguration of the ATC, according to him, likewise suits well to the marching order of President Marcos who urged and challenged all civil servants to be more efficient and expand government services to the greatest number of people.

“Chairperson Yedda Marie and House Deputy Majority Leader Jude Acidre of Tingog Party-list have demonstrated unparalleled commitment and drive, ensuring that the ATC is not just an idea but a tangible reality,” the Speaker added.
