QC, Camanava LGUs suspend classes due to inclement weather
The local government units of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela (Camanava), and Quezon City suspended classes in all levels in private and public schools on Thursday, Aug. 31, due to inclement weather.
The cancellation of classes in the cities was announced after the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Association (PAG-ASA) placed Metro Manila under the orange rainfall warning due to the heavy downpour caused by southwest monsoon rains enhanced by Super Typhoon Goring.
All the class suspensions in the cities of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Quezon City were made based on the recommendation of their respective disaster and risk reduction offices on Thursday.

In Valenzuela, automatic class suspensions take effect everytime Metro Manila is placed under tropical warning/wind cyclone signals or rainfall warnings by PAG-ASA.
In September 2022, the Valenzuela government implemented City Ordinance No. 1052, Series of 2022 (An Ordinance Prescribing the Guidelines on the Cancellation or Suspension of Classes and Work in Schools and Colleges in the Event of Disasters and Other Natural Calamities in the City of Valenzuela), which automatically suspends in-person and online classes in pre-school/kinder, elementary, junior and senior high school in both public and private schools -- including community learning centers once PAGASA places Valenzuela under any TCWS (Signals No. 1,2,3,4, or 5), heavy rainfall warnings (yellow, orange, and red rainfall advisories), or flood warnings.
The Quezon City government announced that 30 families were evacuated from the Bagong Silangan Isolation Building as of 7:45 a.m. as gutter to waist deep floods affected several streets in different barangays in the city.
The Valenzuela LGU also deployed "Libreng Sakay" trucks in different routes to ferry stranded passengers.
The local government units of Camanava and Quezon City urged the residents to coordinate with them in case of emergencies by contacting their disaster reaponse offices' emergency hotlines which were posted on their Facebook pages.
