Sermonia, who was for the groundbreaking ceremony of the new headquarters of the Area Police Command-South Luzon in Barangay Silangang Mayao on Thursday, August 31, met chiefs of police and unit commanders in Quezon and Laguna to remind them of the PNP’s internal disciplinary mechanism policy, police operational procedures, and doctrine of command responsibility.

He admitted lapses in operational procedures that put the PNP in a bad light and affected the whole organization such as the case of 17-year-old Jemboy Baltazar of Navotas City.

Sermonia asked the help of the media to become their eyes and ears against erring policemen and emphasized the one-strike policy for these kind of police officers.

The PNP will reactivate the use of the baton and whistle, he said, and are just awaiting approval and instruction to implement.

Sen. Ronald dela Rosa sought the use of these two non-lethal police equipment after the death of Baltazar.
