Palace suspends NCR classes, gov't work on Sept. 1 due to 'Hanna'

Malacañang has suspended all classes at all levels and work in government offices in the National Capital Region (NCR) on Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, due to the impact of Super Typhoon Hanna.

The Palace released a copy of Memorandum Circular No. 30, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Aug. 31.
Based on the memorandum, the Palace suspended the classes at all levels and government work in Metro Manila due to the "continuous rainfall brought by the Southwest Monsoon, and Super Typhoons 'Goring' and 'Hanna.'"
However, work in agencies delivering basic and health services is not suspended.
In addition, agencies involved in the preparedness or response to disasters and calamities and performing other vital services shall continue their operations.
Malacañang left the suspension of work in the private sector to the discretion of the heads of the private companies and offices.
The Palace earlier suspended government work at 3 p.m. on Aug. 30, hours after local government units (LGUs) declared the suspension of classes at all levels due to the downpour.
