Gilas Pilipinas center Kai Sotto believed the late fightback against South Sudan was just a little too late again.

The Nationals ran out of gas in the waning minutes of the deciding frame, and Sotto emphasized that it could have been a different outcome if they sustained the fiery run up to the end.
“Sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam kanina, sayang, ‘di namin natuloy iyong momentum na iyon,” said Sotto in the aftermath of their 87-68 loss to South Sudan Thursday night, Aug. 31, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The crowd erupted midway of the final frame as Gilas cut the lead by just four, 60-54, courtesy of an Sotto's alley-oop dunk off an excellent pass from fellow big man AJ edu.
South Sudan rallied back after a timeout with a 10-0 counter to shut the door on Gilas.
“We made an adjustment and 'di na namin natuloy 'yung run na 'yun, siguro dun na nag-separate 'nung fourth quarter,” Sotto stressed.
Sotto scored eight points and five rebounds in his 23 minutes of playing time.
