The Bureau of Customs (BOC) ordered the inspection of its accredited condemnation facilities nationwide.
This is to ensure that the condemnation facilities, where seized goods from the country’s ports are destroyed, follow the guidelines for the disposal of forfeited commodities, the Customs bureau said on Thursday, Aug. 31.
“These facilities are crucial in maintaining transparency and accountability of our operations,” Customs Deputy Commissioner Vener S. Baquiran said in a statement.
For Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio, the auditing of condemnation facilities “reflects our commitment in upholding the highest standards of our operations and maintaining public trust with the Bureau.”
