COC filing suspended in Muntinlupa, Pateros, Taguig due to heavy rains, flooding
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) offices in Muntinlupa, Pateros, and Taguig canceled the filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) on Aug. 31 due to heavy rains and flooding.
The suspension of the filing of COCs was implemented in the three local government units following the decision of the Comelec.

The Comelec suspended work in all its offices in Metro Manila.
“Due to severe rains and flooding brought about by Typhoon Goring, work in all offices of the Commission on Elections in the National Capital Region (NCR) is suspended today, 31 August 2023,” Comelec posted on its Facebook page.
It added, “Accordingly, the filing and reception of Certificates of Candidacy (COC) in NCR is likewise suspended.”
As a result, Comelec extended the filing of COCs in Metro Manila and the provinces of Abra and Ilocos Norte until 5 p.m. of Sept. 3.
The Comelec originally set the filing of COCs nationwide from Aug. 28 to Sept. 2.
Comelec-Pateros acting Election Officer Armando Mallorca announced the suspension of the filing of COCs on his Facebook account.
According to Comelec-Taguig, “Ang paghahain ng Certificate of Candidacy ay suspendido ngayong araw dahil sa masamang panahon. Sa kadahilanang ito, magkakaroon ng extension hanggang September 3, 2023, araw ng linggo (The filing of Certificate of Candidacy is suspended today due to bad weather. Because of this, there will be an extension until September 3, 2023, Sunday).”
