The city governments of Las Piñas, Pasay, Parañaque announced the suspension of classes in all levels, both in public and private schools, due to bad weather on Thursday, Aug. 31.
Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar ordered the suspension of classes both face-to-face and online classes at around 8:00 a.m. after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued an orange rainfall warning due to southewest monsoon enhanced by super typhoon “Goring.”
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano ordered the suspension of classes in all public and private schools at around 7:00 a.m. and cautioned residents on flooding caused by heavy rains.
Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez suspended classes upon the recommendation of the Disaster Risk and Reduction Office (DRRMO).
Olivarez advised the residents to call landline 8820-PQUE, 0961-096-6341 and 0956-394-0176 for immediate response in case of emergency.
He said the Commission on Election (COMELEC) also suspended the filing of the certificate of candidacy (COC), including their operations and work in the National Capital Region (NCR).
