UP-Visayas opens P50-M extension campus in Antique

ILOILO CITY – The University of the Philippines-Visayas recently opened an extension campus in Pandan, Antique.

UP President Angelo Jimenez and UP Visayas Chancellor Clement Camposano led the opening of the P50-million extension campus, a project of Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda when she was still congresswoman of the lone district of Antique.

“We will work harder to ensure that this UP-Visayas Antique campus will set the highest standards of tertiary education in the province and the rest of the region,” said Loren in a video message.

Jimenez said the extension campus is a permanent symbol of UP’s presence in Antique.

“We want to be a major part of the transformation of the lives of not only the people of Pandan…(but also) the entire region,” said Jimenez.

The UP-Visayas extension campus will offer fisheries, economics, and finance courses.

The extension campus will give closer accessibility to students instead of having to enroll at the two campuses of UP-Visayas in Iloilo.

Also present at the inauguration were UP Regents Carl Ramota and Victoria Belegal, UP Vice President Jose Fernando Alcantara, UP Vice President Abraham Acosta, former Chancellor Ricardo Babaran, and Antique Rep. AA Legarda.
