Mayor Joy distributes financial aid to 248 families affected by fire
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte on Tuesday, Aug. 29, led the distribution of financial aid to around 248 families who were victims of the fire incident in Barangay Culiat, Quezon City that left 11 persons hurt on Sunday evenin, Aug. 27.
The mayor provided P10,000 cash to the owners of the houses at Vargas Lane, Barangay Culiat, while the families residing in the area were given P5,000 each.
The distribution was facilitated by the QC Social Services Development Department.
The local government said that they also sent food packs, hygiene kits, blankets, and other essential items to the victims immediately after the incident.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the blaze gutted the houses at around 9 p.m. on Sunday and left 11 individuals, including residents and fire responders, injured.
Some of the victims sustained lacerations and second degree burns while others experienced difficulty in breathing.
The fire reached the fifth alarm at around 10:13 p.m. and was extinguished at around 2:56 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 28.
The cost of damage to property, which affected around 50 houses, is yet to be disclosed by authorities.
The cause of fire is still under investigation.
