The City of Manila received P23.138 million from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) for the social amelioration programs in the city.
PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles turned over the cheque worth P23,138,364.04 to Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and Vice Mayor John Marvin "Yul Servo" Nieto during the flag-raising ceremony at Kartilya ng Katipunan on Tuesday morning, Aug. 29.
The financial aid is in accordance with Executive Order No. 357-A, where five percent of the PCSO Charity Fund must be allocated to local government units where the lottery tickets were sold.
"Para po sa kaalaman po ninyo. Hindi po ito ang unang beses na magbibigay po sila sa atin. Sa akin pong panunungkulan ay pangalawang beses na po ito (For your information. This is not the first time they shared with us this fund allocation. In my tenure, this is the second time)," Lacuna-Pangan recalled.
She said her administration also received a P10-million cheque from PCSO last year.
Mayor Honey thanked the PCSO for its unwavering support for the city's programs, especially the medical activities being undertaken by her administration.
Meanwhile, the PCSO announced on Monday that a lone winner bagged the over P100 million jackpot prize in the Megalotto 6/45 draw.
