Dominican Republic’s forward Angel Delgado felt sorry for what he did to Gilas big man June Mar Fajardo in the 2023 FIBA World Cup at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan last Friday, Aug. 25.

Delgado said he was just caught in the middle of the intense game where the Dominicans prevailed, 75-76.
“It’s a physical game with [those] big guys and everything. He’s a great guy. I say I’m sorry to him and [to] everybody because I’m not that type of guy,” Delgado said.
The video of Delgado’s punch to the six-time PBA Most Valuable Player circulated online where he was seen hitting Fajardo in the fourth quarter when the game was tied at 66. The referees failed to see the incident and the play went on.
Delgado, a former player of the Los Angeles Clippers, wanted to see Fajardo and personally say sorry for what he did.
“We haven’t been able to talk, but as soon as I see him again, I’m gonna say sorry because that’s not what I am and [I know] he’s a good guy,” he added.
