Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Karl-Anthony Towns remained humble despite being the main offensive weapon of the Dominican Republic and towing his team to a perfect record in the group stage of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

Towns said that the Dominicans' early success in basketball's biggest stage didn't come without a scare against powerhouse Italy, Angola and the host Philippines.
“I think we’ve faced high-caliber opponents all the time. Italy, Filipinos have [an] amazing team, we found a way to win that game [against Gilas] and we found a way to win a great team and country [like] Angola.” he added.
“We played hard, we’ve fight the adversity against the world, we find a way to get it done.”
“It’s the World Cup, you’re playing actually [against] the best of the best in [the] whole entire world, and able to compete, so we’re just proud of ourselves and [having a] great experience. It's the FIBA World Cup,” Towns said
No doubt, the big man has great love for Dominican fans as he even joined their celebration after his interview with the media.
Towns led the Dominicans in three games, averaging 19.3 points and 7.7 rebounds.
