The Manila Police District (MPD) recorded on Tuesday, Aug. 29, a total of seven arrests related to violations of the nationwide gun ban.
The gun ban, which took effect starting Aug. 28, is in accordance with the holding of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in October.
MPD Chief Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon said the seven suspects were arrested by four city police stations.
He did not disclose the names of the violators.
Dizon said two were arrested by members of the MPD Sta. Cruz police station (PS-3) while patrolling the area around 1 a.m. last Monday.
Recovered from them were a pen gun, a .38 caliber live ammunition, and a six-inch kitchen knife.
MPD Baseco police station (PS-13) arrested a man for carrying a pocket knife while they were conducting a motorized patrol at 6:30 a.m.
MPD Meisic police station (PS-11) also arrested a man with a pen gun at 3 p.m.
Meanwhile, three were arrested on Aug. 29 during the anti-criminality operations of the Sta. Ana police station (PS-6), from 5 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.
Confiscated from them were a Squires Bingham .38 revolver loaded with three live ammunitions, a pen gun, and a 10.5-inch knife.
The arrested suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Batas Pambansa (BP) 6, or illegal possession of bladed, pointed, or blunt weapons.
They are now under the custody of the MPD police stations.
