PRO-13 inspects 2,813 loose guns


CAMP RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – The Police Regional Office-13 (PRO-13) on Thursday, August 3, disclosed that 2,813 out of 6,381 firearms with expired registration were inspected and subsequently surrendered to five police provincial offices (PPOs) and one city police office in the Caraga region.

The Regional Civil Security Unit (RCSU)-13 has conducted Accounting and Disposition of Firearms with Expired Registration (ADFER) for the upcoming 2023 Barangay and SK elections campaign period.

Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office had the most number of inspected loose firearms with 767, followed by Surigao del Norte PPO with 705, Butuan City Police Office with 500, Surigao del Sur PPO with 397, Agusan del Norte PPO with 336, and Dinagat Islands PPO with 108.

PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft on Thursday called on the remaining gun owners to surrender their firearms to the nearest police station to avoid dire consequences.

“I encourage all gun holders to adhere to the provisions of RA No. 10591,” he said, adding “On the other hand, our security preparations have been set for the filing of certificate of candidacy and the campaign period.”
