Negros Occidental town declares drag queen Pura Luka Vega persona non grata

BACOLOD CITY – A drag queen, who recently went viral for performing a rock version of “Ama Namin” or the Lord’s Prayer has been declared a persona non-grata in Toboso, Negros Occidental.

The municipal council approved a resolution authored by former Mayor now Councilor Richard Jaojoco declaring Amadeus Fernando Pagente, alias “Pura Luka Vega,” as undesirable person during their regular session on Tuesday, August 1.

The declaration came more than a week after the drag queen was also declared persona non grata in General Santos City following a viral video where he was seen wearing Jesus Christ outfit while performing the Lord’s Prayer.

His act drew flak from the public with some Christian communities describing it as “blasphemous.”

However, in media interviews, Vega stood firm in his performance which he called art and expression.

Vega was part of the reality show Drag Den Philippines which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on December 8, 2022.
