Mendoza assures readiness of LTO facilities for unclaimed license plates distribution
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has committed to the readiness of all its facilities in the distribution of the remaining unclaimed license plates.
LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II said he already directed all personnel to implement an efficient system for the distribution of the license plates.
The statement was made after Mendoza inspected on Tuesday, August 1, the area in Cebu province where around 670,000 unclaimed license plates are still stored.
Mendoza said they will also tap the assistance of other groups and stakeholders to hasten the release of license plates to their owners.
He earlier said that the agency is targeting to finish the distribution of the unclaimed license plates by September of this year.
Mendoza said the LTO is also tracing what are the possible reasons why these license plates, with some dating back to 2018, were not claimed by their owners.
“We are studying everything, we are auditing all the documents pertaining to it, to ensure that this will not happen again,” said Mendoza.
