BUTUAN CITY – A magnitude-4.8 earthquake rocked Davao Occidental province Thursday afternoon, Aug. 3, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The earthquake was registered at 1:39 p.m. and its epicenter was located 417 kilometers (kms) southeast of Balut Island in the municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
The tremor had a depth of 192 kilometers, Phivolcs said.
Phivolcs said it does not anticipate any damage and aftershocks and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Southern Mindanao and Davao Occidental Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported no damage or injury from this tectonic earthquake.
