DPWH: 16 Luzon roads still not passable, 15 other have limited access due to 'Egay'
At least 16 roads remain not passable while 15 other roads have limited access due to the damage brought by typhoon “Egay”, the The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported on Thursday, Aug. 3.
The DPWH said all the affected roads are in Luzon sustained damage such as soil collapse, collapsed pavement due to landslides and flooding.
They include 10 in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), three in Ilocos Region, and three in Central Luzon.
Meanwhile, 15 road sections have limited access—two in CAR, eight in Ilocos Region, four in Central Luzon, and one in Western Visayas.
The DPWH said the damage to infrastructure is now at P7.051 billion based on latest assessment, adding that the figure is still a partial cost of the damage.
This includes P1.254 billion damage to roads, P173.395 million damage to bridges, and P5.623 billion damage to flood-control systems. (Nicole Magmanlac)
