Davao City unveils P7-M mobile library bus

DAVAO CITY – The Davao City Library and Information Center (CLIC) unveiled its P7-million brand-new mobile library during a blessing ceremony on August 2, Wednesday afternoon, at the People's Park here.

CLIC head Salome Enoc said this is the city's third mobile library bus, which holds about 2,000 book titles, arts and crafts supplies, board games, and educational movies, all for the children in the far-flung areas here.

"The first bus we have serves the elementary students in public and private schools in Davao City, while the second bus, the disaster mobile library bus, serves all the senior high students. The third one is for day-care centers,” Enoc said.

She added that while the other mobile library provides emergency preparedness to increase disaster risk awareness among grade and high school students, this will solely focus on learning material for day-care pupils.

"We will set schedules where our mobile library would be available so all the daycare centers can access the learning materials. We will also check the roads in the far-flung area before deploying the bus. Our goal is to reach every daycare center," Enoc said.

Enoc said the city government aims to bridge the gap between what the children and teenagers can access in Davao City compared to the ones in the far-flung areas. She added that they aim to address the problem in the far-flung barangays that lack sufficient materials.
