A motor banca loaded with an estimated 70 passengers sunk in the sea in Sitio Macnit, Barangay Languyin, Polillo, Quezon, on Wednesday afternoon, August 3.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Polillo station said the MBCA Jovelle came from the port of Real and headed to Patnanungan town, Quezon when it sank.
Several nearby boats immediately responded and conducted a rescue operation and successfully rescued all passengers.
The PCG-Patnanungan also coordinated with other passenger boats and helped the half-submerged boat.
Passengers were safe because only half of the boat sank and they stood on the roof.
Only the passengers' belongings were washed away.
Other fishing boats from nearby areas in Polillo responded.
The PCG said the sea condition was normal and there was no gale warning and sea vessels were allowed to travel.
PCG is conducting an investigation on the incident.
