LUNA, Apayao – Damage to agriculture in the province of Apayao from typhoon “Egay” has reached P546,889,454.66.
The typhoon has affected 11,229 farmers and fisherfolk, the Provincial Office of Agriculture Services said.
According to POAS, rice and corn plantations, as well as other high-value crops, livestock, poultry, agriculture infrastructure, and the fisheries sectors sustained damage.
Rice plantations sustained damage worth P53,038,911.31; corn, 357,498,681; agriculture infrastructure, P9,295,000; high-value commercial crops, P122,575,737.18, and fisheries, P4,481,125.17.
Supervising Agriculturist Bernardo Bareng said regional field offices are currently assessing the extent of Egay's impact on the crop and fishery sector.
They have also collaborated with local government units and other Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management-affiliated offices to coordinate response efforts.
"Let's send this list to the central office so that they know and give interventions to our affected farmers so that they can restart their cultivation," said Bareng.
