SITG formed to probe killing of village chair in Albay

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – The Police Regional Office-5 has created a Special Investigation Task Group to investigate the assassination of Barangay Captain Alex Repato of San Jose, Libon, Albay.

Police Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib said that Police Col. Fernando Cunanan, Albay police chief, and Police Col. Jesus Achico Rebua will lead the SITG as commander and supervisor, respectively.

Calubaquib said that the SITG immediately convened after it was formed.

A reelectionist in the October barangay polls, Repato was gunned down in his residence in Libon after filing his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) on Monday, August 28.

Repato died on the spot due to multiple bullet wounds.
