PRC: 242 out of 351 pass August 2023 mining engineer licensure exam


The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced on Tuesday, Aug. 29, that 295 out of 351 takers have passed the Aug. 2023 licensure examination for mining engineers.

John Mekko Ostonal Payonga from Bicol University in Legazpi City topped the board exam held last Aug. 22 with an average of 88.40 percent. 

Franklin Opena Mejorada Jr., with an average of 88 percent from the University of Southeastern Philippines in Davao City, notched the second spot.

Meanwhile, Jerry Cellero Camingao from Caraga State University (CSU) in Butuan City emerged as the third top-performing examinee with an average of 86.55 percent.

The fourth spot was shared by Exequiel Puyo Calanza and Shirly Doria Vertudazo, both from Saint Paul University (SPU) in Surigao, each with an average score of 86.20 percent.

The exam, given by the Board of Mining Engineering, was held in Metro Manila, Baguio, Butuan, Cebu, Davao, and Legazpi.

Moreover, PRC announced that board passers can register online for their Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration from Oct. 23 to 25.

Detailed initial registration instructions can be seen on the official PRC website, www.prc.gov.ph.

Those who will register, however, are required to bring the downloaded duly accomplished oath form or "Panunumpa ng Propesyonal," notice of admission, two pieces of passport-sized pictures (colored with white background, and a complete name tag), two sets of documentary stamps and one short brown envelope.

Furthermore, the PRC added the date and venue of the oathtaking will be announced soon.
