OVP leads planting of 8,500 trees in Leyte


TACLOBAN CITY – The Office of the Vice President, together with the local government of Matag-ob in Leyte province, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), planted over 8,500 trees in a 13.6-hectare area in Barangay Malazarte, Matag-ob recently.

Matag-ob Mayor Bernandino Tacoy said that their goal is to plant millions of trees throughout the Philippines.

"We are fortunate to be part of the program since Matag-ob is one of the towns that is active in our environment protection program," Tacoy said.

Over 1,000 volunteers from the LGU, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and different sectors joined the tree-planting activity.

Tacot added that prior to the tree-planting, they have already planted over 10,000 trees in Matag-ob.
