Nasugbu-Lian-Calatagan Road in Batangas impassable


LIAN, Batangas – The Batangas First District Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways has reported that the Nasugbu-Lian-Calatagan Road in Barangay Puting Kahoy here is impassable and closed to traffic due to collapsed pavement and shoulders as a result of heavy rains.

The DPWH said alternate routes to this town are the Balayan-Balibago Road and Palico-Balayan Road.

Those from Tagaytay City going to Calatagan, this province, may take Palico-Balayan Road and Balayan-Balibago Road.

Meanwhile, the Batangas Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office reported that thousands of individuals were evacuated in various parts of the province due to flood and rain.

Batangas-PDRRMO head Amor Calayan reported that the most affected areas were the towns of Calatagan and Nasugbu.

In Nasugbu, 700 individuals were evacuated and they are temporarily sheltered in 10 evacuation centers, mostly public schools.

A diversion road in Barangay Malinis in Lemery was flooded and a concrete fence in a public school in Laurel collapsed, the PDRRMO said.

The Diokno Highway in Barangay Tamayo, Calaca City was temporarily closed to traffic due to a landslide.

The Batangas-PDRRMO is monitoring the situation in the affected areas.
