Village chief vows more innovative, timely programs for Barangay San Antonio residents

Chairman Raymond Lising of Barangay San Antonio (BSA), Pasig assured his constituents on Tuesday, Aug. 29, that the barangay administration will launch more timely and innovative programs for their welfare.

“My constituents can expect more community engagements, more collaborations with the private sector, and intensified programs, especially for child development,” said Lising, who served as councilor of BSA before he was elected chairperson of the barangay in 2018.

Being a staunch promoter of digitalization in the distribution of aid and other public services, he vowed to create more programs using the said platform to benefit BSA residents.

“By employing the framework of digital governance, I believe that our barangay will have a purposeful management of digital resources, laying the groundwork for growth, innovation, and digital success. While continuity is crucial, I firmly believe that barangay residents should benefit from more innovative and timely programs. I have more plans for our barangay and we will not stop creating better projects for our residents,” he stressed.

The chairman gave assurance for the continuation of some of the barangays public service efforts in promoting climate change awareness and Covid-19 response.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the barangay distributed Covid-19 kits which include an oximeter, thermometer, face masks, alcohol, and vitamins. BSA also provided food packs, medicines  and continued disinfection operations for its homes, offices, and condominiums.

The barangay also provided transportation for its residents undergoing Covid-19 testing.

Timely information was also given to residents through BSA’s weekly virtual reporting on the status of the barangay amid the pandemic.

To keep residents safe from their homes, the BSA also dispatched rolling stores to make available food items to barangay residents.

In 2021, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto lauded the barangay for sustaining its “Basura to Ayuda” program as he called upon other barangays in the city to follow the example of BSA.

The “Basura to Ayuda” program of BSA also eased some burden on the part of garbage collectors as many residents now segregate their wastes. Before, it took so much effort and time for garbage collectors to segregate the wastes of residents.

“Napaka-gandang initiative ang ‘Basura to Ayuda’, sana ay ma-expand pa natin sa ibang mga barangay ng lungsod Pasig. Magandang ehemplo talaga ito ng Barangay San Antonio, sina Kap. Raymond Lising marami silang magagandang programa tulad nito na magandang gawin sa mga ibang barangay sa Pasig (The Basura to Ayuda is a very good initiative which I hope can be expanded to other barangays here in Pasig. Barangay San Antonio led by Kap. Raymond Lising is a good example in conceptualizing programs and initiatives that can be implemented in other barangays in Pasig),” Sotto said.

Aiming to help save the environment and encourage residents to recycle by exchanging their plastic wastes for packs of rice amid the pandemic, BSA partnered with Planeta Cares, a non-government organization, to launch the “Bayanihan Waste Management Program: Basura to Ayuda” in October last year.
