Mayor Jeannie leads opening of classes in Malabon schools

Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval visited the Malabon National High School (MNHS) and  Malabon Elementary School (MES) to personally oversee the  opening of classes on Tuesday, Aug. 29.

Sandoval, together with Department of Education (DepEd) Division Superintendent Dr.Cecille Carandang, visited the MNHS and MES, to see the situation and to know if the students are safe upon entering the schools' premises.

She said she will add more officers from the Public Safety and Traffic Management Office (PSTMO)  in the area every morning to ensure smooth traffic flow as students returned to schools.

According to the Malabon Public Information Officer, there are 62,226 students enrolled in 42 public schools in the city, while around 25,987 students were enrolled in 40 private schools.

Malabon Elementary School (MES) has a total of 3,800 students and 80 students who are in the Alternative Learning System (ALS).  

Meanwhile, Malabon National High School has a total 3,666 enrollees, the largest number of high school students in a school in the city.

Sandoval also stated that the local government is monitoring to ensure a zero percent drop out rate among the learners.

She also expressed her support to Dr. Rosela Q. Abude, the MES, as well as to the teachers.  

“To all the teachers, we are here to help you so that we can uplift these young people together,” she stated.
