Mayor Honey encourages students to fulfill parents' dreams for them

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna called on the city's students to fulfill the dreams of their parents by studying hard and finishing their education.
"Tapos na ang bakasyon. Aral-aral muli... pilitin sana ninyong abutin ang mga pangarap di lang para sa sarili kundi para sa inyong mga magulang, para sa komunidad at para sa bansa (The vacation is over. Back to studying again... try to achieve your dreams not only for yourself but for your parents, for the community, and for the country),” Lacuna- Pangan said in her speech during her visit to Legarda Elementary School on Tuesday, Aug. 29.
Over 5,000 students of the school gathered to welcome the mayor on the first day of classes.
Mayor Honey noted that Legarda Elementary School is close to her heart as she and her family live in Sampaloc near the school.
She also shared some memories of her father, the late Manila Vice Mayor Danny Lacuna, who graduated elementary from the same school.
"Kaya alam ko na sa darating na panahon, ang mga mag-aaral dito ay magkakaroon ng magagaling na professionals (So I know that in the future, the students here will become great professionals),” she said.

The mayor went on to encourage students to study hard in order to earn their diplomas.
"Isang bansang maka-bata, batang makabansa (A nation that is pro-children, and children who are pro-country),” she added.
The city government provided the students with free school bags and school supplies.
It said that it will soon provide uniforms for the students' recreational activities.
