Man nabbed for election gun ban violation in Trece Martires

CAVITE – A man was arrested in Trece Martires City for violating the Commission on Elections' (Comelec) gun ban for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on Monday night, Aug. 28.
The Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) identified the suspect as alias Mel.
The suspect was riding a motorcycle when he was flagged down by Trece Martires City Police Station personnel manning a Comelec checkpoint.
Alias Mel reportedly opened his sling bag containing a firearm, prompting the police to arrest him immediately.
In a statement, Cavite PPO Director Col. Christopher F. Olazo reminded the public to adhere to the law, with particular emphasis on the upcoming elections.

The Cavite PPO marked the start of the election period on Monday, Aug. 28, with a multi-agency send-off ceremony for security forces and resources at Camp Gen. Pantaleon Garcia in Imus City.
The provincial office is deploying 295 police officers to curb election-related violence and ensure seamless police interventions throughout the electoral process.
