Zamboanga City marks National Heroes’ Day


ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Zamboanga City government led by Mayor John Dalipe held a program and floral offering ceremony at Plaza Rizal here to commemorate National Heroes’ Day on Monday, August 28.

Sen. Francis Tolentino joined the Zamboangueño community and, together with Dalipe and Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja, led a floral offering at the Rizal Monument.

In his message, Dalipe enjoined the public to emulate heroic values and remember the legacy of the country’s brave revolutionaries and the valiant contributions of modern-day heroes.

“As we pay tribute to the heroes of our past and present, let us also commit ourselves to embodying the spirit of heroism in our own lives.  Let us be heroes in our own right by taking an active role in shaping the future of our city.  Let us stand up against injustice, work towards unity, and foster a culture of empathy and compassion,” Dalipe said.

The program was also attended by Councilors Joel Esteban, Aida Paniorotan, Jimmy Villaflores, and Fred Atilano, City Secretary Kenneth Beldua, PRO-9 Deputy Regional Director Police Col. Romeo Espejo, Zamboanga City Police Director Police Col. Alexander Lorenzo, Joint Task Force Zamboanga Commander Col. Randolph Rojas, Coast Guard Southwestern Mindanao District Commander Commodore Marco Antonio Gines, Veterans Federation of the Philippines President for Zampen Raul Roldan,  Fairway Masonic Lodge 415 Grandmaster Atty. Quirino Esguerra, military, police, city hall department heads, and employees.
