ZAMBOANGA CITY – Hundreds of Reserved Officers’ Training Corps cadets converged in Zamboanga City on Sunday, August 27, to compete in the first-ever 2023 Philippine ROTC Games Mindanao Regional Qualifying leg at the Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex here.

Vice President Sara Duterte delivered an inspirational message to the athletes while Sen. Francis Tolentino led the Lighting of the Torch ceremony assisted by Mayor John Dalipe here.
With the theme, “Tibay at Galing, Pagyamanin, Suportahan, Palarong ROTC Natin,” these ROTC cadets will display their athletic skills from August 27 to September 2.
In his message, Dalipe underscored the importance not only of physical skills but also the values of sportsmanship and camaraderie during the week-long sporting event.
”As we engage in spirited competition today, let us remember that the true victory lies not only in winning medals, but also in the values we uphold, the friendships we forge, and the commitment to serve our nation with honor and integrity,” Dalipe said.
Other officials present during the opening are DND Assistant Secretary Henry A. Robinson Jr., CHED Commissioner Marita P. Canapi, Philippine Sports Commission Consultant Kirsten Evan Regodon, Philippine ROTC Games 2023 Mindanao leg Chairman Major Gen. Joseph Ferrous S. Cuison, and heads of the different regional offices.
