The Quezon City Police District (QCPD), along with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Commission on Elections (Comelec), inspected the simultaneous checkpoints that have been set up in Quezon City to ensure peace and order ahead of the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

On Monday, Aug. 28, members of the QC police, AFP, and Comelec led the inspections in various roads around the city to mark the start of the nationwide gun ban for the upcoming election.
As per the QCPD, 42 "surprise checkpoints" will be installed around the city by 16 police stations for two hours per day until the holding of the BSKE on Oct. 30.
QCPD Public Information Office (PIO) Chief Cpt. Johanna Lavarias encouraged motorists to comply with the operations at the checkpoints.
“Sa mga motorista po natin ay makipag cooperate lang po sila sa mga pulis na madaanan nila na nagka-conduct ng checkpoint (To our motorists, please cooperate with the police officers conducting checkpoint activities along your route),” she said.
This will help the city have a proper and peaceful BSKE, she added.
Meanwhile, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela (Camanava) Northern Police District (NPD) also launched simultaneous checkpoints.

Police personnel were also deployed to Comelec offices and other venues for the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) of candidates to the 2023 BSKE.

Candidates from different districts in the 2023 BSKE assemble at the Amoranto Sports Complex in Quezon City.
The Comelec said the submission deadline for COCs will be at 5 p.m. on Sept. 2.
