CITY of San Fernando, Pampanga – The Police Regional Office-3 is conducting checkpoints as the election period in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections started on Monday, August 28.
Police Regional Office-3 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr. said that 1,200 police personnel have been deployed to man 146 checkpoints and implement the gun ban in the region.
Hidalgo urged public to cooperate with police manning checkpoints and assured that they will observe policies and procedures and uphold their basic rights.
He reminded motorists to slow down in checkpoints, dim their headlights and turn on their cabin lights, and answer promptly if asked by police.
“I have also reminded our personnel to be courteous to motorists and to adhere to general guidelines prescribed in our Revised Police Operational Procedures,” Hidalgo added.
Meanwhile, two individuals were arrested for illegal possession of firearms in checkpoints in Bataan.
One was arrested in the town of Morong for possession of an improvised handgun, two 12-gauge shotgun rounds, and three small heat-sealed transparent sachets and two medium-size heat-sealed transparent sachets containing suspected shabu weighing more or less 12 grams.
Another individual was nabbed in the municipality of Hermosa for possession of a caliber .38 firearm with four live bullets.
