Stressing that National Heroes Day is also a time to remember the lives of many unnamed and lesser-known heroes, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. urged the citizenry to become heroes for their own families and communities.

"While we do dedicate time each year to commemorate the notable names that fill our history books, it is just as crucial to remember the lives and deeds of the many lesser-known and unnamed Filipinos who played pivotal roles in shaping our nation," Marcos said in his message on Monday, Aug. 28.
The President said "each of us has the capacity to be a hero of our nation" thus, he encouraged Filipinos to realize their own power to become heroes, emphasizing that heroism can be found even the simplest acts of kindness.
He stressed that our unsung heroes "prove that heroism is not limited to the Herculean; it also includes the honest, earnest, and compassionate living that we do every day."
"As we recognize our forebears whose uncelebrated legacies our society is built on, let us also realize our own power to become heroes for our families and communities," Marcos said.
The Chief Executive also noted that amid the busy days, Filipinos tend to forget the many heroes responsible for all the liberties the nation enjoy today. So, he enjoined every Filipino around the world to celebrate them "with a renewed understanding and sense of pride."
"May this consciousness then ignite us to be dedicated in our agenda of creating a new Philippines that is strong, prosperous, resilient, and secure for present and future generations," he added.
