AFP to Filipinos: Embody PH heroes' values towards shaping brighter nation
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) enjoined Filipinos to emulate the values and ideals portrayed by the country’s national heroes while working together towards building a better future.

This, as AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. led the military in commemorating the National Heroes Day on Monday, August 28, at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City which was graced by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The event was highlighted by a wreath-laying ceremony and carried the theme “Karangalan. Katungkulan. Kabayanihan.” (Honor. Duty. Bravery.)
“On National Heroes Day, the Armed Forces of the Philippines commemorates the bravery and selflessness of all our Filipino heroes. Let us honor their legacy by embodying the values they have left behind as we shape a brighter and peaceful nation,” Brawner said in a statement.
Brawner paid tribute to the country’s noble heroes whom he said left an “enduring imprint on the history of the country” through their “steadfast dedication and selfless sacrifice.”
Also honored during the event were the “living heroes” including the veterans and soldiers who had served or continue to serve the country by ensuring the security of the nation and the protection of the people from all kinds of internal and external threats.
The event was attended by Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., House Speaker Martin Romualdez, National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Chairman Emmanuel Calairo, Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano, commanders of major AFP services, and members of the diplomatic corps.
