8,532 security personnel tapped for barangay polls in Calabarzon
CAMP GEN. VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Security forces for this year’s barangay elections in Region 4-A or the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon area were deployed on Monday, August 28.
A send-off ceremony was held in this camp led by Police Regional Office 4-A Director Police Brig. Gen. Carlito Gaces.
Gaces said 8,532 personnel will be deployed in different polling precincts and other areas in the region.
In addition, he said they will be equipped with 5,229 motorcycles, mobile cars, motorboats, handheld radio and smartphones, and body cameras.
Commission on Elections 4-A Director Monalisa Mamukid emphasized the role of security forces and resources in achieving a peaceful election.
“As guardians of our democratic ideals, we will have an immeasurable impact on preserving security and credibility in this upcoming 2023 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections. Your role in this process is of paramount importance. We must carry out our responsibilities with the utmost professionalism, objectivity, and dedication,” Mamukid said.
Gaces encouraged everyone to perform their roles to the best of their abilities. “Let us remember that the success of this election lies not just in the hands of a few, but in the concerted efforts of many. Together, we create a tapestry of democracy, woven with the threads of collaboration, dedication, and hope,” he said.
Gaces reminded them to be non-partisan. “For those who have their own political affiliations and or relatives running for certain seat in the barangay and SK elections, you must refrain from showing your support and patronage.”
