He said the incidents were reported to the police and barangay but “wala pa ring aksiyon, wala man lang roving, wala man lang barangay na nag-iikot diyan, walang pulis na nag-iikot diyan (no action taken, not even roving [patrol], no roving barangay personnel, no roving police there).”
Buclatan said the holduppers pretend to be passengers with bags and cell phones at the waiting shed in C5 Waterfun.
In another video, he said he became a victim last month while his relative came next a few days ago and is recovering from head injuries. He thanked the Western Bicutan police for taking action about what happened to him.
Netizens agreed with the video and narrated crime incidents in the area.
“Juskooo. Dyan kinaladkad kaibigan ko dati tapos na-freeze ako kasi di ko alam gagawin. Tapos walang nag-attempt din na tumulong kasi may patalim,” one netizen commented on the video.
Another said, “100 percent true po. dito rin nabiktima ung katabi ko sa jeep papunta market market.”
Because of the video, the combined elements of the Taguig police’s Substations 2 and 3 conducted operations on Aug. 24 and 25.
The police identified the three arrested suspects as Jeaford dela Torre, 28; Jhon Paul Dagpin, 20; and Raffy Mirafuentes, 23.
They were arrested by the police who conducted “Oplan Galugad” in the area. Authorities in civilian clothes were dispersed in the area from evening until dawn to apprehend the suspects.
According to the police, the modus operandi of the suspects was to lurk in dark areas to prey on victims.
The suspects were found in possession of plastic sachets containing suspected shabu. They are now detained at the Taguig police’s custodial facility.
A male victim went to the Taguig police on Aug. 26 and positively identified the suspects as the ones who victimized him. The victim said he would never forget the faces of the three suspects as they were easily recognizable to him.
The arrest was the result of efforts of the police, barangay personnel, force multipliers, community, concerned citizens, and the support of the local government.
The police will file charges of robbery against the suspects.
According to the Taguig police, the area around the C5 Waterfun area needs improvements. Defective street lights along the cloverleaf section of Western Bicutan were observed, along with some street lights obstructed by overgrown branches.
To address the incidence of crimes in the area, the Taguig police recommended the installation of additional street lights, replacement of malfunctioning bulbs, installation of CCTV cameras, and the trimming of obstructive tree branches that interfere with electrical lines and street lights.
The Taguig police also promised to intensify their presence in the area. They committed to deploy mobile patrols and bolster police visibility.
They will also collaborate with local community groups and force multipliers to ensure the safety and security of residents and visitors in the C5 Waterfun vicinity.
