The Philippine women’s softball team is scheduled to compete in the U-18 WBSC Women’s Softball Asia Cup slated to start on Tuesday, Aug. 29 in Fujian, China.

The Nationals are grouped with China, South Korea and Hong Kong in the weeklong tournament where three slots are at stake to the WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup Championship next year.
World No. 2 Japan, fifth-ranked Chinese Taipei, India and Singapore are bracketed in Group B.
A three-day round-robin format will be held where the top two nations from each group will advance to the next round. The remaining teams will battle in the placement round.
Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) President Jean Henri Lhuillier is optimistic of the squad.
“We were able to train and provide the necessary tools and mapped out our game plan against our foes. We are extremely proud of their progress and now it’s up to the girls to bring this one home,” Lhuillier said.
Members of the team are Daniela Cabangon, Che-Restcel Dela Cruz, Jeryll Duller, Ciarina Daniela Eder, Shein Espinosa, Trisha Karyl Hicayen, Angelica Jean Latriz, Rhea Manalo, Magdalene Nangan, Eileen Polvorido and Laira Dianne Silverio.
They will be accompanied by head coach Ma. Lizviminda Jalandoni, assistant coach Sheirylou Valenzuela, pitching coach Kaith Ezra Jalandoni and head of delegation Dino Bernardo Lee.
