Marcos said this as Goring intensified over the coastal waters of Palanan, Isabela.

In his X (formerly Twitter) account, the President said the government is closely monitoring the situation in Northern Luzon, which was already experiencing heavy rains and strong winds due to the super typhoon.

He likewise said that over 10,000 food packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) were prepositioned in the affected areas in Northern Luzon.

Marcos added disaster and response units were already deployed and were ready in case evacuation and rescue operations were deemed necessary.

"Sinisiguro din nating sapat ang suplay ng pagkain at iba pang non-food items hanggang tuluyang lumabas ang bagyo sa bansa (We ensure that we have enough supply of food and non-food items until the typhoon exited the country)," he said.

At 5 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) raised the yellow warning signal over Cagayan and Isabela due to Super Typhoon Goring. The yellow warning entails possible flooding and landslides in flood- and landslide-prone areas.

"The public and the disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take appropriate actions, monitor the weather condition, and watch for the next advisory," it said.

The Pagasa tracked the center of the eye of Super Typhoon Goring over the coastal waters of Palanan, Isabela, at 4 a.m. It has maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, with gustiness up to 230 kph.

The super typhoon was reportedly slowly moving south southwestward and could bring strong typhoon-force winds up to 260 kph from its center.
