Actress Park Eun-bin of the hit drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and actor Lee Je-hoon of “Taxi Driver” will be the hosts of the opening ceremony of the 28th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).
Organizers made the announcement on Aug. 27, adding that the opening ceremony of this year’s BIFF will be held on Oct. 4 at the Busan Cinema Center.

Lee Je-hoon and Park Eun-bin starred in the 2014 drama “Secret Door.”
The opening ceremony of the BIFF is a star-studded event attended by celebrities, directors and VIPs in the entertainment industry.
The BIFF recently announced the film and series selections for the “Korean Cinema Today-Special Premiere” and “On Screen” sections of the festival.
Meanwhile, Filipino producer Bianca Balbuena has been selected as a member of the BIFF’s Sonje Award, bestowed upon the best Korean and Asian short films in the Wide Angle section.

The two winning movies will receive 10 million won (about $7,550) each.
Balbuena will be part of the jury together with Korean director Jang Kunjae and Chinese director Wei Shujun.
She is the “managing director of Kroma Entertainment’s Anima, which has produced Sundance Awardee Leonor Will Never Die (2022) and Emmy-nominated The Missing 8 (2021).”
According to the BIFF, Balbeuna “co-founded Epicmedia, which has produced Berlinale Silver Bear, A Lullaby To The Sorrowful Mystery (2016), and Venice Lion of the Future, Engkwentro (2009).”
She received “the Asian Film Commissions Network’s Producer of the Year and the youngest winner of the FIAPF Award for Outstanding Achievement in Film at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards.”
“Balbuena has served as a jury member at various film festivals including Sydney Film Festival and Fribourg International Film Festival. She is the European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs Ambassador for Asia and has mentored at the Locarno Film Festival Open Doors Lab, Talents Tokyo, and Berlinale Talents Short Form Station,” it added.
The 28th BIFF will be held for 10 days from Oct. 4 to Oct. 13 in Busan, South Korea.
