In its 11 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said STY Goring will start its loop on Aug. 27, "then turn northeastward and northward tomorrow (Aug. 28) before shifting northwestward on Tuesday (Aug. 29)."

"It is still possible that even if it still loops and moves away from the country, once it curves and slowly moves northwest, it is still possible that it will approach some areas in the north Luzon," said PAGASA senior weather specialist Chris Perez.

As of Sunday morning, STY Goring has maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph.

PAGASA said it continues to move south-southwestward and was last located 95 kilometers (km) east-northeast of Casiguran, Aurora.

In the previous 5 a.m. bulletin, Goring has intensified into a super typhoon (STY) category over the coastal waters of Palanan, Isabela.
