Angat Dam's water level remains low despite rains brought by 'Goring'


Despite the heavy downpour brought by Super Typhoon Goring, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported on Sunday, Aug. 27, that the water reservoir supplying the entire Metro Manila remains below its normal level.

In its latest bulletin, PAGASA said the Angat Dam in Norzagaray, Bulacan recorded 198.09 meters (m) Reservoir Water Level (RWL).

Although there was a slight increase of 0.07 m in the said dam from the Aug. 26 update with 198.02 m, PAGASA noted that it is still 11.91 m below the Normal High-Water Level (NHWL) of 210 m. 

Updates for other dams  

As for the other dams, PAGASA said the RWL of Ipo Dam significantly decreased by 0.76 m while the Lamesa Dam slightly reduced by 0.01 m. 

The Ambuklao Dam, on the other hand, moderately increased by 0.45 m.

Meanwhile, Binga Dam's RWL dropped by 0.62 m and San Roque Dam slightly increased by 0.09 m. 

The Pantabangan Dam also decreased slightly by 0.12 m, and Magat Dam increased by 0.21 m.
