2 hurt in Makati City blaze


Two men were reportedly hurt during a fire incident that occurred on Saturday night, Aug. 26 in a residential area at Zapote corner Yague Street, Barangay Sta. Cruz, Makati City. 

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), John Paul Codog, 25, had shoulder pain, while Marvin Kim Francisco, 23, experienced difficulty breathing. 

Medical treatment was immediately administered to the two men at the scene by teams from the Brgy. San Lorenzo Rescue and Makati Search and Rescue (MSAR13).

The fire reached only the first alarm status at 9:09 p.m. before being put under control at 9:37 p.m. it was declared fire out at 9:49 p.m. 

Only the five-storey building was burned in the incident. However, five families or 10 individuals were displaced, as per the BFP. 

Probers added that the building was owned by the Makati City local government since it was classified as a “condemned building,” meaning the structure was determined to be unsafe to occupy or use. 

The cost of the damages to the area was estimated to be around P600,000. 

Reports say the fire originated inside the room of an occupant identified as Angelo Bona, 43, located at the second floor.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the BFP.
