A 52-year-old woman with standing warrants of arrest for swindling was nabbed by members of the Pasig City Police Station (CPS) on Wednesday, Aug. 23, and Thursday, Aug. 24.
According to Col. Celerino Sacro, Jr., Pasig police chief, the suspect identified as "Aileen," 52, was served five warrants of arrest from different regional trial courts (RTC) and metropolitan trial courts (MTC) in Pasig, Makati, and Quezon cities.
Police said the suspect was allegedly the manager of a travel and tour business that promotes and offers "generous tour packages to prominent people, businessmen, and foreigners." Her business operations reportedly spanned within the aforementioned cities.
The first three were served to Aileen by Maj. Loreto Tigno, commander of Rosario Police Substation 7 (PSS 7) on Aug. 23, after standing warrants of arrest against her were found upon verification when she applied for a national police clearance.
She was given an arrest warrant for estafa issued by Judge Giovanni Esguerra Vidal of the Makati RTC Branch 236.
She also has arrest warrants issued by Judge Jesus Lapuz-Gaudiano for estafa and violation of the Bouncing Check Law separately filed at the Pasig MTC Branches 68 and 153, respectively.
A third arrest warrant for estafa and another for other forms of swindling were served to Aileen on Aug. 24 at the vicinity of the Pasig CPS headquarters on C. Raymundo Avenue in Barangay Caniogan.
The former was issued by Judge Analie Oga-Brual of the Quezon City MTC Branch 41, while the latter was by Judge Emilio Gonzales III of the Pasig MTC Branch 154.
The suspect has a combined bail of P366,000.
She is temporarily detained at the Pasig CPS custodial facility.
"I commend the unwavering efforts of our personnel to hunt down persons with existing warrants of arrest and bring them before the court who ordered for their arrest. We assure the public that the arrested accused will be held accountable for the crimes she committed," said Chief Sacro in a statement.
